other calendars are filled, so much the greater thanks should every Lutheran here properly show by taking the opportunity to get a calendar of a better kind into his house. We cannot, to be sure, refrain from recalling also with regard to this calendar the word of the Apostle: “Prove all things, etc.” Thus it says, for example, on the page of the month of June: “Everyone who lives ungodly is also a false prophet, a false teacher”; which is plainly false. Furthermore, in the calendar itself the Gettysburg “Kirchenbote,” the “Kirchenfreund,” and other papers are listed as “Lutheran periodicals,” which is just as erroneous, unless, as regards the “Kirchenbote,” it should be enough for being Lutheran that one calls oneself Lutheran, although one defends Reformed doctrine and Unionistic practice. We can assure you that we remark this only for conscience’s sake, and by it in no way wish to diminish in the least the merits of Pastor Brobst in this work also for the Lutherans, or to spoil the fruit of it.
The calendar can also be obtained from St. Louis through Mr. Otto Ernst. The prices here at this place are as follows:
