C. F. Th. Grebel.

Of the above sum the amount of 212 dollars in provisions flowed directly into the household fund; and partly from this, partly from the garden produce raised by ourselves and the proceeds of surplus fruit, to the value of about $20, but partly and chiefly through the continued economical care and housekeeping faithfulness of Mrs. Professor Crämer, who, now as before, for Christ's sake shows herself to the institution as a true house-mother — hence it has come about that in the past household year also the yearly cost of maintenance for each single pupil did not quite amount to 20 dollars. Therefore this year also hearty thanks are rendered to the esteemed givers and benefactors of our institution, as well as to our dear house-mother, as likewise no less to other benefactors in my own and other congregations who maintain individual poor pupils at the Seminary, whose gifts of love are usually receipted especially in the Lutheraner. Likewise I feel bound this year also to thank heartily the esteemed Ladies' Society and other Christian-minded wives in my dear congregation, that they continued, the former in the mending of old linen and clothes and in part also in providing new, the latter in the weekly care of the laundry for all our 21 pupils, to show their Christian love abundantly.
The LORD, the faithful God, be their rich recompenser for it, and bless them so much the more with all manner of spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ.
Fort Wayne, in January 1855.

Fort Wayne, the 11th of Sept. 1854.
